Modern Hard Rock would probably nonexistent or very different if it wasn’t for its pioneers. Deep Purple was one of them. Like majority of heavy metal/hard rock in those days, they emerged from England, year was 1968.
Although they had many changes in their line-up, Deep Purple is still active today.
Over the years they incorporated many different styles into their repertoire, from classical music to progressive rock. They have since sold over 100 million albums. At one point they were also considered the loudest band on the planet.
Notable new member of Deep Purple is guitarist – virtuoso Steve Morse ( joined in 1994. )
Deep Purple had many hit singles that had since became anthems of hard rock, but their most notable one will definitely remain "Smoke On The Water".
Deep Purple are still touring extensively. Their latest tour (2006/2009) was called "Rapture of the Deep tour" on which they played in 50 countries and over 300 shows.
