about Losing My Religion: One of the most popular REM songs. It is instantly recognized by Peter Buck's mandolin intro.
Contrary to the popular belief, the song actually has nothing to do with spiritual religion. It's a southern slang term which basically means "going to snap" or "loosing my nerves".
Despite this fact the song has been criticised many times by theists all over the world. And obviously mebraced by atheists as well. Funny how both of them were wrong about it.
Perhaps REM knew that the phrase will not be widely recognized and thus decided to use in order to spark additional controversies.
History of rock itself has been accelerated by controversies from the day one. Although in those days hip-shaking Elvis was the meanest thing : D
